Little Dude’s room refresh

Happy New Year! I apologize for my lack of posting the past few weeks. We had visit from my parents, so needless to say, we were busy showing them a good time and just enjoying them being around 🙂 Back to “normal” life now.

Today I wanted to share our little guys’ space with you! It’s been a long process, unfortunately. Back when we moved in, the walls were a powder blue and one wall was covered in cork board.

(I promise this is our sons room…there just happened to be a cute little princess playing in there when I took these pics.)

It wasn’t what we wanted, so back in the summer we tore off the cork board and painted the room Balanced Beige.

And his wall sat exposed and torn up looking for quite awhile…like 6 months. We really wanted to do a reclaimed wood wall, but we had a hard time coming up with wood. Also, we just wanted to get something up there, so we went with wainscoting. We also replaced the light fixture, added some wall decor…and now his room is the perfect space for a growing, fun loving, active boy!

It’s a little blurry, but this shows the new light fixture the best.

I was skeptical about the wainscoting in a boys room…I thought it would look too feminine. But I really like how it turned out. Much cleaner and brighter.

I like the eclectic mix of signage here. It’s such a large wall space, the big signs work well. They are all purchased by the way…we did not rip off any road signs 😉 I also like that there is room for more signage. Since we finished his room, we’ve added an Ohio license plate below the speed limit sign.

Toy organization. The cubby is from Target and most containers are from the Dollar Store. I like using cubbies for toy storage since that makes it easy to gauge when we need to part with toys. Can’t fit another large vehicle into the large red bin? Time to give away a couple. It was also so easy when we moved. Wrap plastic around the entire unit a few times, load it into the moving truck. Done. I didn’t have to “pack” any of those toys! Such a time saver!

His quiet time things next to his bed…books, puzzles, and Legos. The red table is from Ikea. It withstands a lot of use!

I think he approves of his updated space 🙂 I asked what his favorite part was and he said “the gun rack”…oh boy 🙂 (in the wainscoting pictures, to the right of the door, there’s two pop guns hanging on coat hooks.)

Someday soon (maybe this year??) we will update the carpet. But until then…the space is perfect for our little guy!

What are some projects you finished last year?
