Counter Top Part 1

Last Journey update I gave was that we got the laminate top from Lowe’s for the counter and table. Well, we glued the laminate down to the counter the other night.

Nathan cut the wood to size and cut our the space for the sink…now to add the laminate.
Not supposed to fit it exactly right, needs to be hanging off the edges…making sure we have enough to work with.
Spreading on the glue…like rubber cement. Applied to both surfaces, wait 15 minutes, then stick ’em together.
Applying to the wood surface
After 15min, we stuck the two pieces together, and Nathan smoothed out any bubbles/globs of glue.
This isn’t really how it looks in person in my opinion. This makes it look white. It has almost a sea green tone to it, and gives the effect of gold flecks….really, you need to see it in person to appreciate it.

I’m calling this post Part1 because we still need to whack the edges off, apply the metal trim, and cut out the sink space. Not really sure when that will all happen. We did realize however that we need to get on the flooring before it gets too cold out. Hopefully that will happen in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I’m getting a “morning off” of sorts on Saturday. My mom and I are going to the Junk Barn Girls sale…and may hit up another one in Walla Walla on the way home. It’s my first time to the Barn Girls, I’m pretty excited about it. I’m sure I’ll find something that Journey needs while I’m perusing. 🙂
That’s all for now!

Press on!
