Hello from my humble hospital room! I’m on day 10 of my hospital stay due to my water breaking. Boo. But, I’m in excellent hands, both babies are doing super, and I’m glad I’m here just in case something happens…even though I feel like this is the closest to prison that I’ll experience. I’ve also been watching a lot of HGTV and just saw the show Fixer Upper for the first time. Have you seen it? Oh man. Love. And I’m pretty sure that we should become friends with Chip and Joanna. They’re my kinda people!
I currently only have an iPad to blog from, so I apologize if formatting or anything is off a little 🙂
While I’ve been here, my man has finished the kitchen!!! He was cool enough to take some pictures of the finished space and send them to me so that I could post about it!
In the last post I left off with two countertops installed as well as the new sink and faucet. Next up was the two big slabs of countertop, the front of the breakfast bar, and the backsplash. We had some friends come over to help bring in the two big countertop pieces…since I’m useless in the heavy lifting department right now.
Those were some heavy pieces of concrete, let me tell you! Thanks Jason and Colt for helping Nathan!
After the counters were installed, Nathan added some trim pieces to the breakfast bar area just to add some visual interest. I don’t have those pictures on my iPad, but you’ll see the finished product in a momentito.
Next my man put up the backsplash. I love the look of a glass tile backsplash, and we needed to add a punch of color to the space, so we went with a blue toned glass tile.
And suddenly…the space was done! (Well ok, not 100%. Still need to paint the door into the garage, replace the pantry door, and swap out the oven & fridge for SS. But the hard and big stuff is done!)
Obviously I haven’t been home in the past couple weeks to properly “stage” the space, let alone go shopping for some cute new decor items, so I might update this post down the road…but for now…here is the finished kitchen!
I seriously just love how everything turned out. It’s so much brighter feeling…not to mention more updated! I like all the different elements and how they go together- wood, metal, stone, glass. And I think my fav thing is the glass pendant light above the sink. It has that perfect blend of vintage and modern that I love.
Here’s some before/afters…
I can hardly believe this is the same kitchen! Major fist pumps to my man for all the hard work he did getting this kitchen looking so amazing. He does awesome work and now we get to enjoy the end results! And it’s so great to have this done before our two little people arrive soon!
Thanks for tagging along on our kitchen update saga! I’ll have to update this post as we check off those last few items.
Have you have updated a kitchen? How did you feel when it was over?
